Application development in CATIA makes the skirt 3-D model quickly formed on the basis of the typical 2-D section profile at different positions, such as bow, port/starboard side, and stern. Also skirt open-fingers model can be batch built by powerful association function in CATIA. The sectional profile at interested position can be cut from the 3-D model to compare with forming calculation, and go back to update the 3-D model if needed. The skirt was made by thin flexible skirt material and formed complex 3-D spatial geometry when inflated by high-pressure air-flow. The upper continuous bag of skirt needs to divide into spatial sects, and each sect after unwrapped into 2-D flat patterns should locate in width range of skirt material. The half-automatic division of sects and partial automatic of 2-D fabrication drawings were realized through application development, along with program developed through Visual LISP in AutoCAD to improve efficiency of checking fabrication drawings to form a whole solution.
