Flow Field and Resistance Characteristics Analysis of Special Eccentric Butterfly Valve Based on CFX

The flow resistance coefficient and flow coefficient are two important parameters of industrial butterfly valves. In this paper, the flow field of a special butterfly valve is numerically simulated on the platform of ANSYS CFX analysis software. The detailed three dimensional flow field distribution parameters, and the flow rate curve and the flow resistance curve of butterfly valve in the flow channel under different open degrees are obtained by calculating the flow patterns under various open degrees. The results show that the flow characteristics of the butterfly valve are equal percent, and the flow resistance coefficient increases exponentially with the increase of the butterfly valve closing angle. According to the result of flow field analysis, the recommendations about use condition and applicable working condition of the special valve are given, and the design improvement plan is put forward.
