As a green processing technology, laser processing technology has many advantages that ordinary processing technology doesnĄ¯t have, such as high energy density, small heat affected zone, good beam directing and focusing, easily automatic and flexible machining, non-contact and non-pollution processing. With the increase of laser power and the improvement of beam quality, laser processing technology becomes a better, newer and faster processing method for the related traditional manufacturing industries. In order to promote more extensive and effective applications of this technology and process in the field of ship and marine engineering equipment manufacturing, research and application trends of laser processing technology and process in shipbuilding and marine engineering at home and abroad is studied in this paper.
