This paper introduces a HVSC system developed by Shanghai Ship and Shipping Research Institute (SSSRI) and installed on the 14100 TEU container vessel “CSCL Uranus”. It is the first HVSC system independently researched and developed for large-size container vessels in China. Taking the tests of CSCL Uranus connecting to high voltage shore power in Yangshan Deep Water Port as an example, the paper elaborates the main functions and technical features of the components, the connecting procedures of high voltage shore power and precautions in the operation. Installation process of the HVSC system on CSCL Uranus is also introduced, providing references for the similar projects in the future.
