This paper studies the variable speed mode of DC grid power system. The combination of variable speed control and variable torque control is introduced, and the structure of power system, characteristics of variable speed mode, speed optimization strategy and characteristics of torque control are given specific methods. The diesel engine universal characteristic is served as the starting point, followed by the study on step-speed strategy and variable speed control program flow. System simulation model is built by using MATLAB/Simulink and correctness of the control strategy is tested.
