At the estuaries of Yangtze River to East China Sea and Zhujiang River to South China Sea, the seawater is full of sticky and fine-grained sediment, which will deposit in ship¡¯s double bottom along with the ballast water. Dealing with the sediment deposition is always a big challenge for ship owner and crews. To solve this problem, four new design concepts of anti-sediment on VLCC are presented in this paper, and the influences of such concepts on design and construction are discussed, especially on hull girder longitudinal strength and local strength.
