In 2010, IMO issued “Guideline for verification of conformity with goal-based ship construction standards for bulk carriers and oil tankers”, and then executed the first-round audit for GBS compliance among IACS members during 2012?2015. It is informed that the action of GBS Maintenance Verification Audit will be continuously and forced at every 3 years in the future. In GBS compliance, one of the most key technical issues is to provide the technical proof/justification on GBS functional requirements, in order to verify that the rule requirements has the conformity with the GBS functional requirements or not. That is the so-called the verification on GBS compliance. This paper introduces and studies on the methodologies of technical justification on CSR GBS compliances. The general technical ideas, the skills of technical proof are analyzed on two typical GBS issues. The conclusion of the study is valuable for the work of verification on GBS compliance and the GBS based Rule development in the future.
