CCS has developed a thermal field analysis software for the membrane tank LNG carrier based on FEM. With the automatic compartment recognizing capability, the heat balancing principle is applied to the air in the compartments of the ship, so that the thermal field is calculated through an analytic-iterative process. The automatic compartment recognizing function can significantly reduce human labor in a calculation using the theory like this. A calculation is made to a LNG carrier. Comparisons with other references show that this software can give relatively specific and accurate thermal field analysis results.
