The large deflection dynamic plastic response of fully clamped square plates with one way stiffeners subjected to blast load is discussed based on the motion equations of both panels and stiffeners in this paper. The analysis indicates that there are three deformation modes for the stiffened plate, depending on two factors: (a) the ratio of stiffener rigidity and panel rigidity; (b) the peak value of the load applied. The corresponding discussion in this paper will be restricted merely to the global deformation mode. Firstly, the motion equations and calculation formulas of permanent transverse deflection are derived by using simplified square yield conditions. Secondly, the membrane solution and energy solution are also given ignoring the influence of bending moment. The calculation results are compared and found to be well consistent with existing experimental results, which validates that the presented simplified analytical method can provide a reasonable prediction for the permanent transverse deflection of stiffened square plates subjected to blast load.
