The green water slamming is a typical phenomenon in the Ocean engineering field. It usually results in extremely high load on the structure. This paper is concerned with the slamming force acting on the structure. In this paper, the structure model is comprised of a rigid foundation with a vertical plate and the piston-type wave-maker is employed to generate the solitary wave. The numerical study of the solitary wave impacting on the structure is conducted based on the moving particle semi-implicit and finite element coupled method (MPS-FEM). And the MPS and FEM method is adopted to calculate the fluid and the structural domain respectively. The solitary wave impacting on the vertical rigid plate is first simulated. The slamming force as well as the pressure distribution on the head of structure is primarily discussed. Then, the solitary wave impacting on the vertical elastic plate is simulated. The effect of the structural elasticity on the slamming force and evolution of free surface is further analyzed.
KEY WORDS: moving particle semi-implicit (MPS); Finite Element Method (FEM); fluid-structure interaction; green water
