From the viewpoint of environmental protection, it is expected that LNG receiving terminal in China will increase not only in the coastal area but also in the river area in the future. Terminals in river area seems having many restrictions against ship¡¯s size, we take particular note of ship¡¯s breadth due to the narrow width of the approach channel in river area. As a specific case, we study the compatibility of our 80,000m3 LNG carrier having 3 moss tanks with the approach channel of Pearl River Estuary. We reached the conclusion that our Vessel¡¯s breadth is smaller than the approach channel width, using formulae of PIANC.
KEY WORDS: LNG carrier; approach channel width; MOSS tank; terminal in river; PIANC
