The Arctic seas became the currently-operating rout for transport of crude oil and natural gas from the fields on its shelf and coastal territories. Therefore the emergency oil spills threats become the real ones and the special technologies and equipment for their detection and liquidation are required. Such technique is developed and then tested in the ice condition of the Gulf of Bothnia. However their application in the Arctic seas calls for special investigations and probable improvements that connected with specific conditions of the crude oil and natural gas production and transportation under severe climate and geographical positions. This paper carries out the analysis of the weather, ice and other specificities of the Arctic seas that are necessary to take into account in creation of the special system for the accidental oil spill preparedness and combating.
