Production activities are inherent ones of shipbuilding, and competency of production activities can be secured only by systematic planning and management capabilities. However, in case of small and medium shipbuilding yards, it is difficult to develop the technology to improve planning and management ability. In order to improve the competitiveness of small- and medium-sized shipbuilders, it is necessary to enhance the productivity of the construction process and to maintain price competitiveness, which is the core competitiveness of shipbuilding. In this paper, we introduce the “integrated production planning” for high quality planning and the “simulation-based production management” system for forecasting production execution. The integrated production plan is the part corresponding to the plan in the PDCA management cycle. It integrates the information of the step-by-step planning tasks necessary for shipbuilding of the shipyard, and integrates planning functions such as strategic plan, master plan and spatial plan. Simulation-based production management means a management technique that minimizes the negative costs that can damage a business. The simulation-based production management system is intended to serve as an evaluation system for the continuous management and elimination of recessive factor of small and medium shipyards.
