The problem of improving the reliability of corrosion protection and its environmental safety in the operation of Arctic drilling rigs is discussed. Bio-testing methods have established the hazard classes of a number of corrosion inhibitors with respect to the surrounding aquatic environment. An introduction of an inorganic oxidative inhibitor of the anodic type into a conversion phosphate coating is proposed. Due to the suppression of sub-film corrosion, the service life of paint coatings can be increased by 1.5-2 times.
KEY WORDS: bio-testing of aqueous solutions; corrosion inhibitors; reliability of paint coating system; paint systems of increased reliability
