This Power Point presentation reviews today¡¯s millennia transition as the shipping industry migrates from legacy logistical port methodologies dating as embodied from a tall sailing vessels and takes a leap forward toward transitioning into a new digital era. How ships, cargoes, ports, and logistical interfaces amongst all other modes in a synthesized transportation network form the key advantages of Smart Marine Ecosystem platforms delivering optimization value by harnessing connectivity and digitalization. A description of ¡°WHAT¡± for the future shipping sector with smart technology will foster a new era of collaboration and sharing to bring value across the logistics spectrum. The ¡°WHY¡± of System waste inefficiencies stemming from over capacity, inadequate port-to-port fuel efficiency, and port congestion form the basis of the ecosystem strategy. A briefing on HOW Illustrative employment of BIG DATA analytics will optimize operations and energy management; INTELLIGENT VESSELS enable automated and safety enhanced processes; and SMART PORTS will optimize faster and smoother port operations. A ¡°CONCLUSION¡± provides a fast paced review signals today of how these disruptive technology based developments will transform the future of shipping.
